About John Conway, LPC
I am a licensed professional counselor with extensive experience in enhancing the lives of combat veterans, couples, families, at risk and special needs youth. I effectively help people survive negative experiences, grow from hidden wounds, clarify goals, gain internal strength and develop self-mastery.
When someone seeks counseling, they are usually experiencing pain, confusion or feeling overwhelmed; and have attempted to improve their life situation with little or non-sustainable success. I take great satisfaction in helping people recognize their strengths, gain self-awareness and apply newly acquired skills to achieve life-changing results within themselves and the world they live in.
I received a Masters Degree in Art Therapy from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 1995. Over the next ten years, I worked with at-risk and behavior-disordered students as well as developmentally delayed youth and their families in educational, residential and community mental health settings. During this time, in 2003, I became a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in Illinois. Since 2006, I have worked primarily as a mobile consultant with soldiers, airmen, sailors and marines along with their spouses and children traveling to military installations throughout the United States, Europe and Asia. In 2010, I attained additional counseling training through the Masters in Counseling program at Liberty University and acquired my counseling license in South Carolina.
License no. 5224.
